The HELPsource™ Occupational Therapist

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients, under orders from the referring physician, through the use of a variety of therapeutic procedures. The Occupational Therapist functions in accordance with their State Practice Act.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs a thorough functional assessment in accordance with established protocol and practice guide-lines.
  • Develops and implements an individualized treatment plan, appropriate to age and needs of the patient, and containing achievable functional goals.
  • Performs treatments as ordered in a safe, timely manner, in accordance with established protocol and practice guidelines.
  • Maintains patient files as outlined in procedure manual.
  • Communicates with physicians, other health care workers, and caregivers, as needed, regarding patient progress, problems and plans.
  • Orients patient to treatment procedures appropriate to their age and needs.
  • Assists referral process when a patient requires additional rehabilitation after discharge.
  • Participates in peer review and quality improvement process, as directed.
  • Accesses continuing education appropriate to discipline.
  • Completes all annual mandatory training and certification requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's in Occupational Therapy from an AOTA-approved and accredited college
  • Current license in Pennsylvania.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated competency in applying principles, methods and equipment used in occupational therapy
  • Ability to assess patient needs to develop and implement comprehensive plan of care.
  • Ability to function as a member of an integrated healthcare work team.
